Orwellian. Neil called in Soviet-esque - what ever phrase it was a very surreal night as New Yorkers rose up in protest over the failure of a Staten Island grand jury to indict a policeman for killing an unarmed man ( again ) at the exact same time that the the ROCKEFELLER CENTER CHRISTMAS TREE WAS BEING LIT.
We are watching this very sweet show of famous people singing Christmas songs in preparation for the countdown all the while looking at my phone and seeing pictures like this, just out of camera range . Now, it turns out that the great majority of the show was filmed last night and shown to the huge crowds on cameras there at 30 Roc.
Let's just hope that all these kids , and they did appear , at least in Manhattan to be young people, college kids for the most part - are all registered to vote.
