Late Autumn Farm Stand

Driving back from Geneva this afternoon we went through the " cabbage belt " . Who knew there was such a thing, but sure enough, right down the road a ways from us are just miles and miles of cabbages.

This was a very nice farm stand, with boxes for the money etc, but the lady was out today, I guess because there is so much traffic on the weekends.

Gone are your high summer vegetables, tomatoes and corn et all, here now the flavors and shapes of coming winter. Hard vegetables that will last for a while, get folks through the snowy months... you know, other than having Wegmans .
 Squashes
 Cauliflower
 Romanesque

Squash or pumpkin - you just slice in half, clean out seeds and bake/roast for a while, serve with butter or olive oil , salt and pepper - Ill let y'all know how it comes out.

What I came home with.
